Good day, beautiful people.
Last Sunday, I participated in a mangrove planting event organized by Collective Mind and Tracco App. It was incredibly fun, and I gained valuable insights during the event. Not to forget, I had the privilege of meeting amazing speakers who led enlightening discussions. I was so captivated by their speeches that I couldn't help but steal glances at them. You could say I was fangirling throughout the entire event. Therefore, I am writing this blog to reminisce about the moments and insights I experienced. Enjoy! (•◡•) /
1. Summoning the Courage to Start and Join
I thought I might feel lonely as I attended the event on my own. However, the reality turned out to be quite the opposite. Connecting with like-minded people from diverse backgrounds made the experience truly interesting. Engaging in a bit of chit-chat here and there, and gaining insight into their perspectives not only expanded my networks but also broadened my knowledge.
2. The Complexity of Climate and Environmental Issues
As we all know, our beloved country, Indonesia faces numerous challenges. While issues like famine, poverty, and unemployment take precedence in our country, climate change and environmental concerns often take a back seat (not a priority). Nonetheless, the impacts and evidence of these issues are definitely noticeable in our daily lives. Both our citizens and the government must balance their attention and efforts to address present challenges while also fulfilling their duty to protect the Earth for future generations. We must fix our present problems, it is true. But let's not neglect our planet's future as well.
3. The First Step Towards a Sustainable Future
The initial step is to raise awareness about these issues. Today, we can witness the gradual emergence of sustainable startups, along with influencers and organizations dedicated to spreading information. This is a good sign that our people have started to begin their campaign. Although many people have grasped the concept, only a handful have begun to take action.
4. A Crucial Element: Action
Don't let the knowledge you've gained go to waste. Take a step and make a change, starting with yourself. Start small. Strive to eliminate habits that harm the environment. Seek guidance and connect with individuals, organizations, and communities that can assist you in adopting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
5. Initiate Change !!
It's your turn to get involved. Encourage those around you to take action, raise awareness, participate in campaigns, and foster a sense of urgency regarding these issues. These actions can influence the government to take notice and implement policies. Public awareness and urgency are the most powerful catalysts for those in positions of power.
One of the speakers, Kak Nada Zharfania, mentioned that we can classify ourselves into three categories:
1. Informed Individuals
2. Consulted Individuals
3. Individuals with Power
Continuously strive to the top, and raise your level of involvement along the way. Don't forget that your steps, actions, and voice matter.
I hope you enjoyed my notes. Thank you for reading, and see you next time.
